National Standard BMX Racing Track in Cornwall – You can make it happen!

National Standard BMX Racing Track in Cornwall – You can make it happen!

This project has been set up to build a National Standard BMX Race Track on land at Carn Brea in Cornwall which will put the county clearly on the map for the future of BMX Racing. At this stage we need your help to raise money which will be used as matched-funding to secure the larger funding required to build this fantastic new facility.

We have worked really hard to get to this stage of this project – IT IS NOW YOUR TURN TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Cornwall BMX Racing Club is a well-established racing club with a growing membership and significant record of achievements at local, Regional, National and International levels. The club is British Cycling affiliated and has Go-Ride accreditation, with British Cycling qualified in-house coaches that provide regular training sessions.

We are based in the beautiful county of Cornwall in the south west of England and want you to come and experience all of our fantastic assets whilst also being able to ride a top class BMX Race facility – SUN, SAND, SURF and BMX RACING….what more could you ask for?

This new track will become a centre of excellence over time with exemplar National facilities to allow the continuous development of riders. The track will support riders by providing qualified coaches who are able to inspire and develop riders to meet their own goals and targets. Whilst the track’s key objective is to provide National BMX Racing within easy reach of the main conurbations of Camborne, Redruth, Pool and Truro, it will be developed and located to attract all levels of riders from wider-reaching areas.

The track will act as a hub of activity and capture your aspirations whether you want to simply fun free-ride with friends, become a Cornish Champion, compete at Regional level, take on the National BMX Race Series or represent Great Britain at World and international level. It is planned to use a blend of initiatives to ensure that the club secures incomes streams which in turn will ensure sustainability of the facilities.

Special thanks to all of the awesome Cornwall BMX Racing Club team that made the effort to ensure that the track and facilities were ready to go – whilst also being there running registration, finish line, cafe, sweet shop, BBQ…..etc

Huge thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters who helped to make the event possible.
Particular thanks to those that grabbed some tools once the rain came in especially the Exeter BMX crew with Carl Harris; and our own guys that kept working on the track throughout the racing Carl Cope, Martin Northcott and BridgetMartyn Kistle.
Thanks to Steve Leggett and the BC Commissiare team for keeping everything running to schedule.

The presentation night went down very well so thanks you to Billy Luckhurst, Charlotte Green and Paul Novis for all of their hard work handing out the trophies.
Special thanks to Steve Rachel Pritchard for the fantastic trophies.

Huge thanks to Mike Sharpe aka DJ-Ispy……the guy is a genius with the music and was incredibly enthusiastic throughout the day and late into the night. If you have any events please feel free to contact him…….he is “simply the best!”

Thanks to Patrick Caddy and Mick Wells for taking the time to capture those moments forever.

We hope that this year we brought you an event which you will positively recall for many years……

Lastly to those that stayed last night please enjoy Cornwall today and remember that the swimming pool and surf school are open. Walks along the beach and over the sand dunes are free – what an incredible venue!

We hope that you all have a safe journey home, see you all soon.

Great news as Grant is Awarded to CBMX

Great news as Grant is Awarded to CBMX

Communities in the Camborne, Pool, Illogan and Redruth Community Network Area have been awarded a total of £47,300 to help them run local services and organisations. The grants have been awarded by the area’s Community Network Panel, using money allocated from Cornwall Council’s ‘Local Devolution Fund’.

The Local Devolution Fund, which totals £608,000, has been divided between Cornwall’s 19 Community Network Panels.  It can be used to support the devolution of Cornwall Council services and assets to town and parish councils, and other local organisations, or to support local partnership working projects.

  • Cornwall BMX Racing Club, who are planning on using the funding to provide a world class facility at Carn Brea so that the young people of Cornwall can compete on a national level.

Mark England, Chairman of Cornwall BMX Racing Club, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the club and its partners to develop a much needed high standard BMX Racing facility in Cornwall. We are grateful to Cornwall Council for this contribution towards taking on the management and development of this community sports facility which also has wider benefits to the whole of the South West and will attract riders from across UK.”
